How does TherapySelector work?
First you enter the requested characteristics of your patient by answering 4 simple questions about etiology, disease stage, previous treatments and comorbidities. Based on this, a profile of the patient is determined. The app then shows an overview of all registered treatments for that specific patient profile, based on frequently updated study results. For each therapy you find information about effectiveness, possible adverse events and costs.
TherapySelector currently provides the following features:
• Determination of patient profiles based on four simple questions about the patient
• Probability of "success" of all registered medication (combinations) for hypertension and hepatitis C, together with the probability of adverse events associated with the patient profile
• Detail information, including information about dosage (of the therapy regime) and the cost of a specific treatment.
• Monthly import of data from scientific studies, or at least once per quarter.
• Availability in both English and Dutch, without creating an account.
TherapySelector is intended to provide physicians and patients up-to-date and personalized information to support them in choosing the most appropriate treatment. In doing so, the app complements guidelines that are often not up-to-date and are based on the ‘average’ patient.
Hypertension is currently in pre-release
Recently, we added the hypertension module as a pre-release. You can already use this module in practice, but more data is needed for a more complete overview of therapy choices. We want to already introduce a new system of information presentation about therapies, for physicians.
Currently we are processing data from more than 60,000 patients. In the near future, we will also include additional registered therapy regimens in our database, to provide a more complete overview.
Developed with (academic) medical centers and research institutes
TherapySelector is being developed in collaboration with physicians and scientists associated with universities and leading academic medical centers such as the Erasmus MC, LUMC and MUMC+. The data has been authorized by specialists from Dutch scientific associations.
The results in the app are calculated using anonymous patient data from scientific studies of published randomized controlled trials, other phase 2 & 3 studies and prospective real-life studies around the world (high quality research). Research groups and sponsors make their data available for this purpose.
Monthly updates
We regularly make changes to the TherapySelector app. On a frequent basis we import new data.

Changes: After introducing Patient profile Suggestions for hepatitis C, in this release we are also launching Patient profile Suggestions for hypertension. If not enough data is available for your chosen patient profile, we now provide several suggestions. These suggestions are based on patient profiles where one patient characteristic has been removed from the profile.
We have also made some minor adjustments to the patient profile options for hypertension.

• Pre-release Hypertension: hypertension has been added as a pre-release. You can already use this in practice, although more data is needed for a full overview of therapy choices. We are currently processing data from over 60,000 patients.

Changes: We have made several improvements in this release:
- The design of the detail screen has been changed. This allows you to see at a glance the dosage per tablet with the correct daily dosage.
- Improved readability by changing the font in some places.
- You can now see whether there are results with or without Ribavirin.
Additional data has been loaded from the HCV-TARGET study: a total of 190 patients have been added.

. The app and database have been completely renewed, and are now generic for several diseases.
